Print ArticleAlaska must be a paradise to live in unlike the rest of America. This is what we learned from the debate between Biden and Palin. Palin´s statement that the vice presidency should be allowed to have more power in the Senate would come close to making the Executive Branch of our government almost absolute in nature. (A dangerous situation indeed) We have just witnessed a V.P. candidate that is calling for a major change to our Constitution.
America needs change in what is going on in our lives we don´t need a dictatorship in essence. Is she saying that we can elect our own dictator every four years? Dick Cheney has run this country into the ground and most of us understand this as he guides President Bush on every move. Now we have the new Republican V.P. candidate wanting more power within´ the Legislative Branch. Palin also admitted that she would do things differently from McCain if she would assume the presidency for reasons of death or illness. Apparently this is due to her being a Maverick.
Has anyone looked up the word maverick? I believe that it means something like not going by the rules? We don´t need someone like that running our country as in ways we have seen it the past eight years. She did prove that she was a maverick by ignoring the questions given her during the debate. She proves it again by ignoring the past as it is our past or history that determines our future. If you ignore history you are deemed to repeat it. That is a fact that nobody can deny.
We also witnessed that Bulldog with lipstick as we have heard about. Palin spent more time on the attack than giving policy. This is her history as many of those in Alaskan government can tell you. Palin goes for the kill and ignores the possibility of agreement. I´m sorry but wasn´t it President Reagan that met face to face with our main adversary of the time the Soviet Union that lead to the destruction of the Warsaw Pact?
Another issue could be calling all Middle American men Joe six pack. Is she saying that all Middle Class American men drink every night? Is she claiming that all mothers are hockey/soccer moms? The guys drink and moms do all the work within the family structure. What about the majority of parents who work more than one job just to be classified as poor. Like Biden I was a single parent for over 12 years. Many more women are single parents that suffer more than I have. And please don´t claim that you Sarah have first hand knowledge about dealing with a child with disabilities. I have delt with this into two of my children´s adulthood.
America needs to look past the winks and the smiles. We disserve substance. The games have gone beyond this point. Without a middle class that is flourishing there is no more America. History has proven this time and again. There are times when government needs to step in and help create the jobs that ensure that a middle class will continue. The Business Elite won´t survive by money alone. History has proven this. The Romans, Greeks Etc.
